SCHOOL
SMP Negeri 2 Semarang, Indonesia
I had been put in the school of Semarang where is the capital and largest city of Central Jawa, Indonesia. My practicum school is SMP Negeri2 Semarang under the Universitas PGRI Semarang which is the host university. We got a wonderful welcome from the teachers and the students there. We are like celebrities in the school, the students screamed when they first met with us, and they asked to take a photo with us.
I never felt like a celebrity like this before. And I have many Indonesian friend who are practicum in the same school. We often share our teaching experiences and daily life together.
The first week of practicum in the school was the week of Independence Day of Indonesia that celebration on 17th August every year. There were no classes in that week and there were many activities such as singing contests, recreational activities, traditional games, Traditional performance, and traditional food contests. How lucky for me that have seen this special day like this! All of activities looks really joyful and wonderful for me.
After that I observed the school and pedagogical approach in the school with 2 friends
(mathematic major, 1 my classmate). The school start at 7.15 so we have to arrive at the school before 7 that so early for me because in Thailand starts at 8.30, I have to manage the time for coming to school. Because in the morning the traffic is quite crowed. We went to school by grab, the first day that we booked the grab, the driver cannot find us, and we cannot communicate with the driver. And here was quite an exciting experience. Suddenly there was a boy in school named Vary. Come to help us by talking to the driver. and tried to communicate with us even he could not speak English and we could not communicate in Indonesian. We communicated by using google translate. Even it's just a little thing but I am really appreciated with him helping.
