Time Management and Organizing Activities

At SMP Negeri 2 Semarang is the junior high school, There is 40 minutes of study time per class and study English 2 times a week and it devided into 2 period (1*40 minutes per time and 2*40 per time)

Frist step of my teaching is Greeting (2 minutes). I always greeting with Indonesia language and English (Salamat pagi-Good morning and Salamat siang-Good afternoon) and asking normal question before starting the class like daily routine questions : Have you eaten yet?, Are you sleepy?, What do you have for breakfast/lunch?

Next, warm up activities (5 minutes) to make the students get ready and break them wall such as; The name game by devide the student to the group and let them introduce themselves then the next friends have to remember and repeat the sentences the student before (speaking) , 1 2 3 body touch (Practice meditation), Whisper game (listening), Hangman (Vocabulary) and listen the video to find the answers.

Then it is presentation step (10 minutes), I though and presented the contents of that lesson such as vocabulary and modeling the sentence’s structure.

Next practice step (15 minutes), I let them to practice individual and activities group.

Individual activities to practice speaking skill by using the activities to random; wheel random and passing things for more interesting and exited. Then let them do the presentation (about them idol’ hobbies ) and present in front of the class.
Group activities (brain storming), I assigned them about the information and let them write to the short passages and do the presentation in front of the class.

After that, production step, I let them do the presentation in front of the class.

Finally, wrap up step (8 minutes). I review everything that I though like vocabulary and sentences and sometimes I let them to play the games (Bloket website) for checking understanding of the students by using the phone. And do the authentic assessment by formative assessment: Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading.
